  1. I'm A KJ - May I Copy A Disc To Use In My Shows?
  2. Can I take your CDG’s, transfer them to videotape, and send BOTH the CDGs and VHS to my brother overseas at the Army base because he only has a VCR.
  3. Can I take your CDG’s, transfer them to videotape, keep the CDGs and send the VHS to my brother overseas at the Army base because he only has a VCR?
  4. Can I use your karaoke media for my recording booth in my store? My customers want to make a demo of themselves and they are NOT buying the karaoke media.
  5. Can he make copies of his videotape and sell at the base?
  6. Can I use your karaoke media for my recording booth at the back of my store. My customers want to make a quick demo of themselves and they are buying the karaoke media.
  7. I am singing at a stadium and want to use your tape for national TV during half-time. Do I owe anyone anything?
  8. I have a Karaoke machine and I want to record my voice on the other side of the machine. Can I do this?
  9. I have some of your music and want to use it for a demo to get singing jobs. I want to make multiple copies of this demo and do not plan on selling them. May I do this?

  11. We are a non-profit Church group wanting to use your public domain Christmas music to make a tape for resale to raise money. Do I have to pay?
ANSWERS
  1. I'm A KJ - May I Copy A Disc To Use In My Shows?

    The ORIGINAL disc is to be used in shows. If the original is lost or damaged then you must purchase another original If you were to add another complete rig to do multiple shows you would need to purchas a complete library of original for that second rig. It is ILLEGAL to buy one disc and make copies to use in multiple rigs.

    Yes. A copy may be made under provisions of Fair Use.

    No, you may not use your media but you may sell recording time to a customer who owns the disc.

    Yes, as long as there is a one-to-one ratio of a karaoke media sold for every recording made.

    No. However the venue must pay a performance royalty for the song sung at the stadium and for broadcast.

    Yes. If you have bought our tracks and want to use it for personal, non-commercial purposes, this is Fair Use.

  11. We are a non-profit Church group wanting to use your public domain Christmas music to make a tape for resale to raise money. Do I have to pay?

    Yes. While the church group does not owe any royalties to a publisher because the music is public domain they will have to pay Sound Choice a master track licensing fee for the use of our public domain rendition. Most churches are tax exempt and non-profit, but the royalties and fees are stilled owed.
